Figuring out pain relief isn’t exactly new to me but ugh, sciatica feels like a whole other ball game. It’s had me whack out some of the tools I thankfully haven’t had to rely on for a long time, but also had me researching anything and everything else that might help me to cope. So in case it’s useful, here’s my current survival kit… And please excuse my miserable face, I was filming this on week two and not thriving 💀😂 @hothugger* wearable hot water bottle - fastens around your middle and sits quite flat against you so great for hip and lower back pain while you’re on the move (don’t forget to let water cool down before adding to hot water bottle!) Hands-on physio and exercises - difficult but necessary to relieve the compressed nerve and build your strength back up Wonderpak reusable heatu002Fcool pack - just squeeze and it’ll heat up wherever you are or put in the fridge for cold therapy - not cheap but got a hefty discount from the traders at @the.disability.expo! NSAIDs - anti-inflammatory medication prescribed by my GP, not ideal but one of very few pain medications I don’t have adverse reactions to @yuyubottle Hot Water Bottle* - long hot water bottle that’s flexible enough to wrap around your leg, tremendously helpful for nerve pain down front of my thigh TENS machine - this Auvon one does the job well despite being one of the most affordable options, the sensation sometimes aggravates MEu002FCFS symptoms but mode and intensity can be adjusted @betteryou_ltd’s Magnesium Salts* - if you can tolerate hot baths these ones are the best, been using them for all kinds of pain for years Rest and distraction - simply accepting that this is the situation right now and trying to give my body what it needs… which becomes *so* much easier when there’s a sleepy little puppy chilling next to you [AD - products marked with * previously gifted and much-loved ever since] I really hope you don’t have cause to take note of these, but if you do, hope they’re helpful!
